But holy shit is it a CP at that price.

I’m not sure you can say CP when the top one has 9,000 miles and the other one has 120,ooo miles on it.. hardly a fair comparison.

Yeah but it’s over 4 times the price...

Are you factoring in that it got to hang out with all those other literal “stable-mates?” You can’t put a price on that kind of “street cred.” That 3000GT knows things.

but that’s like saying a good low mileage road runner that’s been well taken care of going for 120k makes no sense vs buying joe dirts for $1000.. just no difference at all...

$25k for a base 3000 GT is CP, regardless of mileage. It’s not a noteworthy version and it’s not a collectors vehicle yet.

see i thought that too. But then two things pop’ed into my head. A: it’s awd, was the base awd. it doesn’t really tell me enough about the car and 2: that’s not my place to say what is or isn’t a good price for something like this.I’m not a collector or enthusiast of this car I have no idea what it’s worth. But i do know it’s a loved older model car with really low miles, it’s worth something to some one.
My soul point is you really can’t just say CP because of look here’s another one with 101k more miles for a much much lower price. they are not equal enough to make that claim. I just think it’s silly to use that other one as comparison.

Well the higher mileage one was relatively well kept too and they aren’t as sought after as the Road runner is.

Hmm. It seems as if this is the twin-turbo variant, a step down from the VR-4. I suppose in this instance we can’t really call it NPOCP at all, as I’m not sure if there are other similar sales. It’s worth more with 9k miles, and because it’s a TT, but I’m not sure if someone would want this model over a VR-4. Plus, when you buy a car like this most of the value comes from the low mileage, so it’s an investment rather than a driver, and I can’t imagine ‘90s Japanese pseudo-super cars are worth a lot of money.

I’ll say CP even without the comparo. That’s only a few grand less than what they went for new, and this one has almost 10k miles on it. That’s like saying it’s lost almost none of it’s value since leaving the factory 20 years ago. What justifies that? It’s just a 3kGT and not even a VR4 (which you could totally get for this coin) at that.
Rarity =! Value. Don’t care what condition it’s in, given level playing field, no base SL is going to be worth as much if not more than a VR4, full stop. It’s a CP.

19 grand for that. No thank you. He can keep his pipe.

I think he was just saying you couldn’t say CP just because of the comparo I don’t think he’s really fighting for a non CP label.
Anyhow proof of Rarity =! Value is my Montego. It’s an odd ball that people don’t even recognize at car shows. Yet it’s not worth a fortune.

Rarity =! Value
(Rarity)^Desirability + Notoriety = Value

They will probably get that for it since we don’t give a shit about reliability in this country (probably due to many reruns of Wheeler Dealers) and way too many people care about millage.

exactly. I can’t claim NP or CP because I have no baseline for this. but saying CP then posting something that really isn’t in the same realm of as the other and using that to justify the CP doesn’t work.

Maybe a VR4, but a base...

was it though? I mean based on these posts all we know is the body is in decent shape, but the interior definitely shows the age of the car. sure it’s not beat to hell but it’s nowhere as pristine as the other one. it looks like a well cared for high mileage car. neither show mechanical bits or under car shots. if we are going on the photo’s we have the 2nd one still looks like a high mileage car worth about 4.5k. we have no baseline for the top one still.

Also note that the 3000GT had problems as far as reliability goes.

Especially the Vr4 variants because of the sheer complexity of them.

See I’m watching wheeler dealers right now and bought a low mileage car... That said I still checked the car thoroughly and it’s only low mileage because it’s newish.
People are terrified of >100k mile cars here, which I can understand. Most average cars are worth sub £1k at that point, so wear items like clutches, servicing, brakes, suspension, timing belts, get neglected since it’s not worth fixing them to the owner. Enthusiast cars with service history are a different matter though.

Depends I suppose but the price still seems high to me.
